3 Wheel Double Buggy

The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that is ideal for parents who love to take a trip off-road. It features a fantastic suspension and huge, puncture-proof wheels.

Our tester Claire was impressed by the clean packaging, easy-to-open and found it to be one of the quickest and easiest pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it to explore some rough terrain and was extremely pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies begin life as single pushchairs. However, some can convert to take an additional seat or carrycot using adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). You'll also find that some models will allow you to include a ride-onboard for older children who would like to walk but require a little help.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It is easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket with lots of storage. It can hold twins from birth and accommodate two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats are required to be oriented forward and there's no space to store a bag of groceries underneath which is why you'll need a sidepack to do that.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be a good option for you If you like off-road driving. It's a side-byside model with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. This makes it easier to squeeze through doors that are narrow and on public transport and also allows you to go up and down kerbs with no trouble. It also has a handbrake on the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

The UPPAbaby vista 2 double is another lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats are multi-positional reclining with UPF 50+ sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't touch your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into triple by adding UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack" board, which is designed for older children.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most sought-after on the market. This is due to their superb comfort. It's an all-terrain vehicle, with a soft suspension that makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate a massive 30 seating configurations, and comes with an integrated ride-on board that can be used for older children who prefer to walk, as well as a 'cinema' seating mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.

Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a great single buggy from the beginning that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially useful for parents who have children in a car. The frame can be fitted to a wedgie, which permits the most optimal lying-flat position. Suspension

The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine how easy your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is vital since babies can feel every bump on the road, particularly if it's on rough terrain like grass or dirt roads. Some models also come with front wheels that lock to assist with maneuvering and getting over obstacles such as curbs.

Certain models come with air-filled tyres that are great for all-terrain rides, but they are susceptible to punctures. Be sure to keep an extra set of tyres in the trunk. Other models use gel or foam tyres, designed to withstand bumps and can be less prone to punctures, however, you may feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the Urban Glide 2 with her toddler and newborn and found it to be exceptionally adept on terrains that are difficult to traverse. "It glided effortlessly over bumpy sidewalks and grass, cobbles, and dirt tracks and was easy for me to maneuver around corners and get up and down kerbs." It's also very enjoyable to jog, with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels providing a safe jogging experience." Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can fold pretty neatly to store it. There are models that fold flat and then stand up (as as if they're in a pushchair position) as well as those that pop open to reveal a more umbrella-style fold, with a hand-operated brake. In general, the more wheels a buggy has, the easier it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is particularly true when the wheels are larger than average. This will give you more stability and decrease the likelihood that your child are likely to tip over or fall over.

A popular choice is the iCandy Wave, which can be used from birth with an infant car seat and it can be converted into a side-byside double buggy when your child is old enough for them to be seated next to each other. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model, which makes it easy to push and is packed full of extra features including a bumper bar and raincover.

The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is future-proof since it's an excellent buggy, and can be modified to accommodate two (or three!)  3 wheeler pushchairs  of this is incorporated into its small footprint. It is an innovative three-wheel design that includes a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.

This is one of the most comfortable double buggies to run with your kids. It has a front wheel that can be locked, that will allow you to keep your balance on hilly or off-road terrain. It also has a generously-sized undercarriage basket, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension to ensure an enjoyable ride.

It's a lightweight and compact model that folds by one hand, making it great for travel. It's compatible with a broad variety of infant car seats, and comes with an undercarriage basket that can be pulled out that can be used to stash items. It is a bit expensive however, it does have several standout features, such as its one-click folding feature and a host of extras, including a bumper bar or raincover.


Stores

Many people are amazed by the storage capacity of a 3 wheel double buggy. Some models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket as well as two zip pockets on the hood where you can store your keys and phone. It is also designed to be able to handle a little rough terrain which makes it a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and flexibility to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby (it uses their 'PiggyBack' boards to make this possible).  3 wheeler pushchairs 's the smallest side-by-side double on the market. It also comes with impressive technology, including LED visibility lights that are placed on both sides of its frame to increase safety in low-light situations.

The clever frame can be expanded to accommodate a second seat, yet it weighs around 11kg, making it easy to lift and manoeuvre. It can also be used with a car seat or carrycot, so you can have the best of both worlds and it can help you save money in the future since you don't have to purchase a new buggy as soon as you get it.
